creating a "cradle of light"
the south facing and heavily glazed facades that circumscribe a sunken outdoor space would capture light throughout the day and modulate it via an external system of brise-soleil. the project explored the potential of patterns that might be created indoors with a thoughtful external system of sun control.

the idea was inspired by my travels in Argentina, where such systems are typical (see photo). In Casa Curutchet, Le Corbusier implemented elaborate exterior and interior shading control.
