Crosstown has been a guiding metaphor for the creative processes in my life.

It implies moving from one place to another, recognition of change, of differences in culture, modes of thought, attitudes, modulation of time and space.

Intersections in art, architecture and music are critical, the crossing of dissimilar elements, the melding of the consonant and dissonant, the celebration of a transition, a change, the tolerance of different points of view.

It is first necessary to recognize and assimilate them; only then can we begin to explore the possibilities of how such junctures and relationships might benefit from design, or whether they are best left alone.
